Sights on Our Many Walks Along the Cinta Costera

Everyday while we were in Panama’ City, we walked the Cinta Costera (costal belt).  This is a nice large path from the new high rise part of town to the Casco Vieja, old town.  There is a bike lane, a walking path and lots of green space and play areas for children.  All day there are lots of people strolling but in the evening….!  People of all ages. One out to exercise, meet friends, get some air or sit with loved ones along the Cinta Costera.  The first day we walked from our hotel (about three blocks from the Costera) to Casco Viejo for my first tour there (perhaps another story).  Along the way, three cute little girls, giggling and whispering, came up to us.  One was brave enough to say, “Good morning.”  Of course there was lots of smiles and laughter.  The teacher came over and informed us that the girls are in a private school which specializes in teaching English.  It was a sweet encounter and one repeated with other students of differing ages along the Costera each day.

The photos are from another sight we encountered.  This is a dance troupe or class practicing in one of the pavilions along the Costera.  I was mesmerized by these beautiful, full, vibrantly colored skirts as the women whirled around.  The music was fun and I had to hold myself back from joining in.  In the heat of the early evening, these dancers were so intent on learning their dance.  When I realized that the celebration for the 100 year anniversary of the opening of the Panama’ Canal was August 15, I wondered if this was in preparation for a presentation for the celebration.  Hmmm

I have other photos of our strolls along the Costera which I’ll try to posts soon (still working out the bugs).  Until then, Hasta Luego!

    • Thanks for the comment Caroline. We had heard that the temps were low for this time of year in Winona. No, we don’t miss the weather, but yes, we do miss our wonderful friends. A month has flown by, won’t be long, we’ll be back. Hope Christopher is doing well. Adios, Julie
